ESHNR is dedicated to advancing knowledge, promoting research, improving methods of teaching, and fostering continuing development of head and neck radiology. Our teachers, reviewers, supervisors, and mentors are generously investing their time, expertise, and energy to educate and support the next generation of head and neck radiologists.
Since the pandemic we have substantially developed our online and onsite educational programmes for our membership and a broad international audience. While this has greatly increased access to high-quality education, it has also significantly increased the costs of delivering our courses and activities. At the same time, economic pressures on our industry partners mean they are more cautious in offering to support these activities.
Many talented head and neck radiologists face barriers to their professional development in their early career. This is compounded by many hospitals being increasingly unable to provide financial assistance for their doctors to attend training opportunities. These early-career radiologists and newly appointed consultants benefit enormously from spending time in another institution. Fellowships act as a catalyst for growth: radiologists return home with new knowledge, technical skills, clinical experience, and professional networks that enrich their own departments and improve patient care.
The ESHNR community can now unite and make a difference. By contributing to our donation initiative, we can support more ESOR-ESHNR fellows, allowing them to strengthen healthcare, teaching, research, and international cooperation. Every career begins with challenges, but once we are established, we have the privilege and responsibility to help colleagues with fewer financial opportunities. Through our support, we can pass on our knowledge, enthusiasm, and commitment while investing in the future of our specialty. In some countries donations are also tax deductible.
